DJ Profile

A list of the DJ who play at Depthcharge and a bit about each and the type of music they play.

Hailing from Perth, Australia,  Jaya is now one of  Glasgow’s leading female underground house DJ’s.

A subtle presence behind the decks, her deep but feminine sound rocked many a venue down under since 2006. Along with her regular slots at Perth’s top house club Geisha, and number one pre-club venue, Queens Hotel, Jaya also blasted out on a monthly basis on RTR.FM ,Western Australia’s leading alternative radio station. It is there that she pulled in a faithful following on the nightshift show, Powerjam, spinning five hour sets on a monthly basis.

In addition to this, and with female spinners being somewhat of a rarity,  Jaya has also been flown  to Bali, Indonesia,  to perform in some of the best clubs that the Aussie version of the White Isle has to offer.

Now a graduate of Audio Technology at Glasgow’s renowned Stow College, Jaya continues to follow her passion for electronic music production while remaining hot property on the female dj scene.

No stranger to Glasgow’s thriving house scene, Frazer has been a familiar face on the DJ circuit for over a decade, having developed a true passion for music in his early teenage years.

With his style rooted firmly in the deeper side of things, his skills have allowed him to spin alongside house heavyweights such as Derrick Carter, Jimpster and Moodymanc to name but a few.

Having played in just about every house venue in Glasgow, Frazer has also had the opportunity to showcase his talents in London, Ibiza and Australia. A true maestro of warm up, he is the definite mood setter of DC.

Andy Jackson’s many inspirations and influences stem from the start of the House music explosion in America in the late Eighties. Citing some of his House Heroes as Kerri Chandler, Todd Terry and Larry Heard, with labels such as Trax and Strictly Rhythm also making their mark.

Some have described Jackson’s vibes as “…being seduced by an instinctive groove which underpins all productions. His sound channels classic notions of Chicago and Detroit House, fusing addictive vocal cuts with a rolling groove which is subtly irresistible…”

Jackson went on to study Audio Technology and Electronics at university before taking a job as what he refers to as a ‘Radar Geek’ in the Air Force. Stints as an Architect and now Sound Engineer have all contributed to a very intricate and comprehensive understanding of what makes a track truly stand out.

Recent releases with Esa (Mervin Granger) Williams on Ralph Lawson’s FINA Records, and Esa’s own ReMemory Records have been dropped in some of the biggest clubs across the globe.

Andy sees the live performance element as an extension of the studio, with a gig being “almost like one big jam session, feeding from and responding to the crowd”.
