DC 2nd Birthday Celebrations with Moodymanc (tsuba/2020 vision)

We have to admit, 2 years has flown in!

2011 was another great year for us, allowing us to bring our usual calibre of high quality guests to the extremely clued up clubbers of Glasgow.

So it is with great pleasure that we will be celebrating our 2nd birthday party in true DC style……..MOODYMANC IS GLASGOW BOUND!!!

A name that you will probably recognise from labels such as 2020 Vision, Tsuba and Neurotraxx, Moodymanc ( real name Danny Ward ), has been delivering house bombs all over the world, most of which have been universally championed by all the heavyweights and have made him one of the most in demand re-mixers around!

On top of all the studio time, he also boasts a live project, the very popular and in demand,2020 Sound System.
Being a jazz percussionist, this live performance sees Danny occupy both drum and production thrones, and its popularity as a whole has seen him grace the cover of DJ Mag, something not to be sniffed at!!

As well as confirming this deep house genius, our venue had to be pretty special too, and they don’t come much better than the extremely swanky Berkeley Suite!
We’re pretty sure you are aware of the buzz surrounding Glasgow’s “place to be seen” late night retreat, what with Scarlett Johansson frequenting there during her filming in Scotland and the mighty Andy Weatherall ripping the place up also…..needless to say, we’re excited!

To add to our celebrations we’ll be holding our pre-party next door, at the equally plush, Chinaski’s.
From 10-12, Niall Findlater, aka San San, will be providing the warm up before we slip next door, where Jane and Frazer plus our guest will be accompanied by our faithful percussionist, Jer, taking us into the small hours.

We’re keeping the door tax to a mere £5, and as we are aware that we all have bills to pay, there will be a limited amount of FREE ENTRY stamps available at the pre-party, best get there early to take advantage!

We look forward to enjoying our birthday with you! xx

DC Sessions with Soul Minority (tsuba/stratospherik)

A well sought after DJ, remixer and producer, Soul Minority has been turning heads in the deep house world since 2008, releasing countless remixes on several labels, all of which have been nothing short of first class.

His most recognised release to date, A Soul Thing, ruled the top slot of the Beatport charts for six weeks, being recognised by house and techno djs alike around the world.
From there on, his trademark style of deep melodic house has been given huge backing from the likes of Gorge, Shur-I-kan and Jimpster.

It is with great pleasure that we are the first to host Soul Minority in Scotland!

Deep house heads will NOT wanna miss this!

DC Present The Vinyl Club

This month we invite some more talented locals to join us on the DC sound system….

Proud residents of the mighty Vinyl Club, Jim Lamb and Gerry Mawhinney will be joined by two of their most recent additions that will no doubt contribute to their ever expanding electric empire.

Spinning into their 6th year, broadcasting out on Leith FM every Friday from 21:00 – 23:00, the boys have established a huge following, with their down to earth objective, simply to provide the nation with quality electronic music in its many forms.
Unfazed by current trends, past fads or future flavours they have a achieved the goal of constantly providing a memorable soundscape for their loyal listeners.

We had the pleasure of Mr Lamb joining us for our last day party, and let us tell u, if his musical selection and mixing is anything to go by, we can’t wait to hear the rest of the Vinyl Club posse that will be desending on us for the evening!!

As always, the DC residents will present the perfect warm up…..and only a FIVER to boot!

boomtime yet again!

DC Sessions – September Weekend

After the success of our West End Festival parties that we did here back in June, we thought we’d squeeze in another just before the winter weather really kicks in!

As always, we’ve gathered together a fine collection of spinners for an evening of beats and beers, and with it being the September weekend (everyone off on the Monday we hope!) its bound to be a messy one!

Our guest DJs for this one are:

Alan Gray ( Telefunken / Edinburgh )
Ivan Kutz ( Seasons / Nomad )
Jim Lamb ( Leith FM / Vinyl Club )
Esteban Carracas ( Audio Ice Cream )

along with the DC residents:

Frazer Devine
JAYA
Niko Mendez
and Jer on percussion

Lets get it cranked

DC Sessions – Andy Blake

A veteran of vinyl, Andy Blake has been DJing since 1988, amassing a collection of fearsome records that set dancefloors alight wherever he plays!

Aswell as being an amazing spinner, Andy also runs labels such as Cave Paintings, Dissident and his newest project, World Unknown.

He makes a point of playing only vinyl when he DJs, this is no mere affectation or snobbery, it’s purely through the fact that he believes that music played well from well made 12″s sounds better than any other medium when cranked up loud in a club.

And who are we to disagree??!!  We witnessed one of his mind bending sets at Fabric, just one of the many super clubs he visits on a regular basis, and it was something special to say the least!

Always eager to cast his dancefloor voodoo within new venues, DC welcome him with open arms!

DC Present Scenic Tones Records Party

Scenic Tones is one of the freshest sounding labels to come out of Glasgow in the past year, and is definitely one to watch in the near future.

Label owner and producer, Julius Funkhouser will be joined by label mate and DJ partner Steven Coyle (of Tronicsole fame), playing a two hour back to back set of all things deep, along with current and future releases from the label itself.

These local lads played for us a while back at one of our Sessions day parties and they ROCKED it!

DC residents Frazer Devine and JAYA will be on hand to overfill the gaps, and of course, bongo man, Jer, will be supplying the LIVE percussion.

CHECK OUT OUR PROMO MIX FOR THE EVENT THROUGH OUR SOUNDCLOUD LINK!!!

Its boomtime yet again people!!

Telefunken – DJ SNEAK

WOW!  As for as djs go…they don’t get much bigger than this…literally!

Our friends at Telefunken through in Edinburgh have invited us over to join them for what plans to be an awesome house party, and a great way to kick off the Edinburgh Festival!!

DJ Sneak really doesn’t need any introduction, i mean, he’s only the dude responsible for inspiring the likes of Daft Punk and Basement Jaxx plus countless others, with his innovation of disco filtered house!  With his sets full of deep, bumpin’ basslines and cheeky little melodies, you’ll walk away at the end of the night knowing that you’ve just witnessed a Sneak set.

We got a Sneak preview (haha) of what we’re in for when we saw him at T In The Park a week ago, it was a very quick hour with lots of smiley faces in the crowd head nodding in appreciation!!  Good news though, with the Edinburgh Festival allowing the license of the club being extended till 5am(!), we can expect a few hours from the big man.

While Alan Gray and the rest of the Telefunken crew will be taking care of warm up duties in the main room, Frazer and JAYA will be supplying the deeper vibes in the front bar, where they will be accompanied by some fine local talent.

Its boomtime again people!

DC Sessions – Apres T Party

For our first of many parties that we’ll be holding at Adlib, we’ll be starting off with a wee get together for all the revellers that are returning to Glasgow after T In The Park!

We’re keeping it local by inviting two of our favourite deep technicians to join us, Monty and Von Dug.

Monty has become a regular face at DC over the past year or so, his constantly active sets hit our buttons everytime, blending styles from deep, driving house to peak-time tech! booomp.

Von Dug really made us sit up and pay attention when he played for us at our day gig at the beginning of June. A very talented spinner with an unbelievable selection of tunes, rest assured you’ll be head nodding in appreciation when you witness one of his sets.

Our brilliant beat master Jer will also be on hand to provide the LIVE percussion throughout the evening. His individual contribution to our nights has been well recieved by all, so we’re very much looking forward to more of the same.

Finally, one of the best things about moving into Adlib is the fact that, due to it being surrounded by office blocks, there are no sound restrictions! Our friends at AVL Scotland have promised us something special which will have us all grooving till the small hours. Expect BIG sound!

Looking forward to seeing you all there and please feel free to share this event with your friends.

Point 4 @ The Soundhaus

“The Mirror Room at the Soundhaus will be hosted by DepthCharge this month.  New to the Point 4 rosta but long term deep and grooving house fans, residents and promoters, Frazer Devine and JAYA will be taking room 3 on a 4 hour house trip for those that can’t resist a groove.  DepthCharge is about setting themselves apart from the pack with the focus firmly on seamless mixing and world class music – you won’t find the Beatport charts being played in here……………………..”Point 4

Needless to say we are absolutely delighted to be part of this ever growing house and techno night!  Its a HUGE party, split over three rooms and then an after party at another location when the lights finally come up!

Also on the line-up for the evening are BCR boys LIVE, Mr Copy, Hotbox w/Simon Stokes and Animal Farm will be hosting the afterparty….insane stuff and we can’t wait to get involved.

For more info check out the Facebook event and Resident Advisor.
