Point 4 @ The Soundhaus

“The Mirror Room at the Soundhaus will be hosted by DepthCharge this month.  New to the Point 4 rosta but long term deep and grooving house fans, residents and promoters, Frazer Devine and JAYA will be taking room 3 on a 4 hour house trip for those that can’t resist a groove.  DepthCharge is about setting themselves apart from the pack with the focus firmly on seamless mixing and world class music – you won’t find the Beatport charts being played in here……………………..”Point 4

Needless to say we are absolutely delighted to be part of this ever growing house and techno night!  Its a HUGE party, split over three rooms and then an after party at another location when the lights finally come up!

Also on the line-up for the evening are BCR boys LIVE, Mr Copy, Hotbox w/Simon Stokes and Animal Farm will be hosting the afterparty….insane stuff and we can’t wait to get involved.

For more info check out the Facebook event and Resident Advisor.

West End Festival

Everyone loves the West End Festival, but there’s always something missing isn’t there…..?

HOUSE MUSIC!!!!

We’ve been given the go ahead to host two day parties which will tie in perfectly with both the Kelvingrove Parade and the Gibson Street Gala.

Now, instead of holding them in Kelvingrove park, we’ve chosen a bar with the best beer garden in Glasgow…..THE BIG BLUE!!

With its south facing outdoor area, which runs along the river Kelvin, the tables get the sun (which we’re sure will be plenty of!) for most of the day.
Right next to Kelvingrove underground and a two minute walk from the park, over Gibson Street, its super easy to get to no matter where you are enjoying the West End festivities.

As well as the quality beats that will be playing from 3pm, we’ve also got Peroni on tap (yaas) to wash down the hotdogs and pizza that will be available for those that feel the need to eat.

We’d like nothing more than to keep the music “alfresco” all night but we do have surrounding residents to consider, which means that we will be moving inside at “some point” to continue till late on.

Both events are sponsored by our loyal contributors, Urban Hair Care, the West End’s coolest health and pampering retreat, who will be handing out promos and offers on the day.
Plus, we’d also like to introduce our new sound and light team, ADL Scotland, who will be treating our ears till the small hours.

Depthcharge Bank Holiday Special

Definitely the place to be this Bank Holiday Sunday, Chambre69 welcomes DepthCharge residents, Frazer Devine and JAYA, for an intimate evening of deep/tech house music.

In addition to this we also have resident percussionist, Jer, supplying the live beats.

Best get down early and make use of the fiver entry, cos the place has been at capacity every time the doors have opened!

To give you a bit of background on Chambre69, it quite simply is the freshest thing that has happened club-wise to Glasgow in a LONG time, and believe us, its been a long time coming!
Not only is it a state of the art club, but it also has the capabilities and capacity of being a live venue.

The combination of live music and clubbing suits us down to a T and we really cannot wait for this explosive gig!!

Depthcharge in 1 (POSPONED)

Celebrating our 1st birthday in true deep house style, we invite one of the genres best artists, Soul Minority!!

Soul Minority started production back in 2008 and after several well received remixes, he delivered his first EP on Pack up and Dance, an instant hit on the new deep house scene: “A Soul Thing” was number one in the Beatport charts for 6 consecutive weeks and was acclaimed by Techno and House DJs around the world. Releasing his 2nd EP, “I Remember House”, in May 2009, it was no surprise to see that shoot straight in at #2 on the Beatport top 100 charts.

Since then, Soul Monority’s production work has graced labels such as Kolour Recordings (USA), Tsuba (UK), Dirt Crew (Ger), Raw Cutz (Spain), Dark Energy (UK), Night Drive Music (Ger), i!Records (USA), always maintaining his fresh, deep sound.

It was finally in 2010 that he was to introduce the world to his own label, Stratospherik, which has seen him rock dance floors from Dubai to London!

This is a Scottish exclusive…..you won’t wanna miss this….!!!

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS POSTPONED!!!!

Hey all,

It is with our deepest regrets that we are being forced to postpone our 1st Birthday Party with Soul Minority.

On our return from Australia we were greeted with an email from the management of Universal informing us that as of the beginning of February, they were scrapping ALL of their clubnights.

We have heard mixed reports from their so called management as to why they are doing this; noise complaints being the most serious.

This is a matter completely out of our hands and believe us, there is no one more gutted about this decision than we are, a lot of time, money and effort has went in to the birthday celebrations and having to postpone it is our only option.

We have already started talks with another couple of venues and fear not, we WILL be bringing Soul Minority to Glasgow in the near future.

You’ll be the first to know.

Thankyou as always for your continued support,

Frazer and JAYA xx

Depthcharge in November

With our Aussie tour just round the corner, this will be our last Depthcharge of 2010.

Like last month we’ve invited some high quality local talent to join us on the DC turntables.

Rab Clark and Mick Macneil have been running their deep, tech house night, Wired, for three years having achieved monumental status in this short time. Hailing from the East Coast, we first met them when they spun at one of our day parties back in August and their style was right up our street! Having cemented slots at one of Edinburgh’s biggest club nights, MUSIKA, they have spun alongside the likes of Dubfire, M.A.N.D.Y. and Luciano. These boys know how to rock it!!

In addition to this, we are also very pleased to welcome the resident of one of Glasgow’s newest club nights, Nomad Nights.
Ivan Kutz is one of the most talked about names on the Glasgow dj circuit, and its pretty easy to see why. His super tight mixing, along with unique track selection has had him turning heads big style. Yet again, a new face to the Depthcharge rosta, but no doubt one that we’ll enjoy again in the future.

Frazer and JAYA would like to thank all of you for your continued support, and we’ll see you in the new year.

Depthcharge in October

After our well deserved break in September we are more than happy to announce our new residency at The Universal!!

Helping us in the proceedings we are joined by three of Glasgow’s up and coming pioneers within the deep tech music scene.

First up and needing no introduction is Kreep’s head honcho Monty, who has graced the Depthcharge turntables in the past, his tech house style never fails to dissapoint so needless to say we’re looking forward to welcoming him back for more of the same!

Some new faces to add to the Depthcharge rosta, Cam T and Kage are no strangers to rocking packed dancefloors in Glasgow. Having residencies at nights such as Sunday Circus and Bon Bon, they both have developed a fine skill in effortly drifting from warm, deep house to the slightly more peak time tech beats that they are known for.

As always Frazer and JAYA will be fullfilling their resident duties.

Depthcharge in August

It is with the greatest pleasure that we welcome yet another one of our favourite producers/spinners to the Depthcharge turntables…MASSIMO DACOSTA!!!!

He is one of the busiest djs to come out of Belgium and by the looks of things he doesn’t intend in slowing down anytime soon!

Massimo began dj-ing at the age of 17, after being introduced to house music by artists such as MAW, Kerri Chandler and Todd Terry. His rise to super star status started when he was the resident in many bars around Brussels and it wasn’t long before he went on to become resident in Belgium’s top nightclubs such as Pure Club, Food and Touche.
His smooth style of mixing had him rubbing shoulders behind the decks with the likes of DJ Deep, Bob Sinclair and Mark Farina and it wasn’t long before his own production was whipped up by major house labels.
At the beginning of 2010, Massimo and his production partner, Vernon Baras, introduced the world to their own label, Homecoming, which already has gained respect from artists such DJ Sneak, Laurent Garnier and Kenny Hawkes to name but a few.
He joins Frazer and JAYA in room one for what promises to be a night of the finest house music you’ll have heard in a long time.

Room two will again be taken over by Gutter Punk who offer their alternative sound in all things electro.

Depthcharge in July

Rolling into month two of our summer parties we are treated to a four hour set from Depthcharge’s trusty residents, Frazer Devine and JAYA.
Since starting back in February, they have been joined by some high quality guests, both local and international, and now its their turn to show you what they are capable of for the whole four hours!
Expect some serious deepness from the start, before being carried through to some more tech sounds which willl be joined by quality soulful house. Guaranteed dancefloor pleasure in Room 1.

While the WEDGE boys are away concentrating on their live music, Room 2 will have a temporary take over, once again bringing something different to Depthcharge.
Gutterpunk is all about quality dub-step, electro and synth-pop, which will no doubt have the walls shaking in the second room.
We look forward to having them join us again in August and September.

Depthcharge with Hakan Turan

As most people dash off to places of warmth during our supposedly sunnier months, over June and July we’ll be focussing on some of the brightest up and coming local talent that thrive within our uber cool city.

Hakan Turan has been one of the most recognised faces to come out of the bumping boundaries of Bodrum, Turkey. Having found a soulful sanctuary in Glasgow for the past five years, he annually returns to his residence at the Sensi bar, aswell as guesting at every other recognised club and beach bar on the island.
Hakan’s style of music brings everything to the floor, but always maintains a solid groove with its roots firmly fixed in the soulful, funky side of things.
With some quality productions in the pipeline to boot, he joins Frazer and Jaya in Room 1.

The Wedge crew continue their control of Room 2.

This month they are joined by Biba Nights main resident, Munro. A brand new night that has majorly kicked off at The Art School, it’s quirky but cool style of house music has already gained an eager following and will no doubt continue to succeed with this man at the helm! Definitely a force to be reckoned with behind the decks, Munro’s mixing capabilities have left many established DJ’s jaws agape, Room 2 is gonna go off!!
